Is there any safe way to fast when nursing? I am nursing a 9 month old and my 2 year old like once or twice a day.

I just really feel like i need to do some "spring cleaning"

any wisdom out there?

yeah for you for breastfeeding..you definitely need your energy level and to be eating something for good lactation...maybe you could try a fruit fast or a veggie fast, i would just watch the combination of the fruits and/or veggies because the wrong combos could give you and baby unwanted gas.....

sorry its me again...i just thought about something... i knew a mother who fasted from her last evening meal to the next day meal (like from dinner which ended at about 4:30 for her until breakfast at 5:00)

the other thing i was thinking about was natural detoxers like garlic...if you don't mind smelling like garlic it is a wonderful cleansing tool that you could enjoy daily...

just some extra thoughts :)

Hi

I am still nursing our almost 16 month old. I did a 7 day juice fast back in June when she was about 7 months old. I went all raw when she was 5 months old. I noticed that she had some detox symptoms during my fast. The first couple days she had a runny nose but that was all. After that she was fine and I did not have any problems at all with milk supply or anything else like that. I have done a couple other shorter fasts since then and right now am ending day one of what is suppossed to be a 30 day fast.
I think that you should be fine, especially since they are not nursing too frequently.
