Is there any safe way to fast when nursing? I am nursing a 9 month old and my 2 year old like once or twice a day.
I just really feel like i need to do some "spring cleaning"
any wisdom out there?

Unfortunately, IMHO, I just don't think you can fast without sacrificing your and your childrens' health.
Others may disagree with me...but this is why I think this:
Either you will lose your milk, which is not good for your children (unless you juice fast and drink TONS of calories worth of juice), or your health will suffer because your body will take what it needs for the milk and leave you without much.
I know that when I was nursing, if I even cut 400 calories, I would start losing my milk. Maybe your milk supply could hold up...but I know a lot of women have this problem.
I would also guess that by eating raw vegan you are pretty clean!! :)

Besides the diminished calories, if you do have any toxins you will dumping them into your breastmilk. It is not safe to fast while nursing. Toxins (which are stored in fat) are released and excreted via bodily fluids-this includes breastmilk. I would wait to do any sort of a fast until both are fully weaned. Even taking chelating agents which will bind said toxins will not prevent them from entering the milk.

I agree with the previous posters to not fast while breastfeeding for all the reasons they gave.

I agree... it is great to fast, but you will be releasing toxins that your child will absorb. Best to wait.. :)
