Hello, everyone! =D Back in July my hip started hurting (and I mean HURTING) every time I ran. Since then I've been resting it for months at a time, hoping it will heal like everyone says it should--but to no avail. Last Thursday I ran a little bit, and while my breathing and muscles were fine, my hip started to hurt almost immediately. I could barely walk down the stairs to get out of the building!

This problem started before I went raw and I'm only now climbing back on the wagon. It's been hard, but I'm determined to get back to where I was health-wise, because it was absolutely fantastic, and I could even run short spurts without a great deal of pain. I know, I know, I shouldn't be running if it's going to hurt, but it feels absolutely fine before I start and I keep hoping it's finally better.

It hurts right on my left hip bone (the right one has healed) and even touching it irritates it. The doctor didn't seem too concerned (big surprise), but something is obviously wrong. Has anyone else had this problem? What do you suggest? It would mean the world to me if anyone could help, because running was absolutely my favorite thing to do. I'm afraid that any x-rays will lead to drugs and surgery, and I'd rather seek alternatives first.

Thank you!
Evie

If you have something structurally wrong then rest may temporarily make it better, but running would bring it back again. You might want to talk to someone who helps people with structure issues and see what comes up. Often the answer is simple.

I had terrible knee pain one year, and 10 minutes with the right person had me finding out that one hip was slightly lower than the other, which caused more pressure on one leg than another, and resulted in knee pain in me. Often pain radiates - a misaligned foot could cause shoulder pain! You just never know! Ten minutes of specific stretches for me took away the pain, and the same exercises over the next month or so realigned my hip. No more pain ever.

The group I had a consultation with was www.Egoscue.com
They have a hip page here http://www.egoscue.com/htdocs/Pains/painfree_hip.asp

Keep searching - you'll find the answers you need!

Cheers,
Sheryl

Hi Evelynn!!!!!!!

hey can you describe what you mean by hip? LIke on top or side etc? Walking is fine? Any other symptoms? Is it only when you run? what do you mean the right one healed??

Thanks, Sheryl! I'll definitely check that out. :D

misslinda -

It hurts toward the front, and walking is usually okay, but too much will make it hurt. Not as much as running, of course. The right one was sore in the beginning, but it only lasted for a week or so.

I do have flat-ish feet, but that never bothered me before...
