hi trigirl , its the cayene and lemon that disolves congestion / toxins . its like an internal scrub or degreasing the way i see it . ive done around 10 fast past year and have done it on many til i realized the syrup wasnt raw and cut that out . i guess you could replace it with agave nectar . i'll say what i feel it does in me is that the cayene starts an increase in blood circulation and in breaking down mucous in the g.i. tract which allows you to get the flushing/cleansing process speeded up on a liquid fast , so does the caustic action of the lemon . just type in master cleanse on your browser or at the top of this page in search icon to read up on it . welcome to the board . good day :)

Doing 100% raw and wanting to try this master cleanse and saw that you cut out the syrup....did you feel different then when you did it with? Did you replace it with agave or just skip it altogether?? Did you lose any weight with this and keep it off? That is my goal, to lose those last 10 pounds or at least jumpstart it!

Thanks so much for your time and answers!

you need the sugar(agave_) because that is you only source of energy
I did it 2 years ago, became pregnant-gave in to all KINDS of cooked food cravings, had a baby (year old Apr 1 :D) , and STILL have not gained back many of the 15 lbs I lost.

hi lr , i didnt feel any difference in mc without syrup beyond it not tasting as good . and it was my logic that the syrup isnt something thats going to break down / disolve easily in the g.i. tract (it seems like itd become gummy) so i didnt think it should be included in a fast in the first place . i never tried agave , ive been thinking the sweet herb stevia is something ide like to try in the mc because as far as i know its the leaf of a plant so would be easily flushed out / disolved as opposed to the thick syrup . on weight i rarely check my weight so cant say . but in case your not a real atheletic person and thusly dont know this is that a running habit is a sure fire method to keep excess weight off . and one more thing i just came across is that cinnamon helps in keeping off fat . good day :)

Samadhissoul - thank you for the information. Glad to hear you kept the weight off - congratulations on that and the baby!!

Michigan Roman - Nice to hear that you didn't feel different withouth the syrup as I do not mind as much on taste as energy. Will also check into that wheatgrass you mentioned on the other post as well! I am doing as much of interval running as I can but my asthma limits it to no more then 5 minute runs with 2 minute rests! Thanks again!
