Hi everyone!
I have been 'playing' with my food the last two days and I've LOVE Alissa's carob I just got. It does add that bit of chocolate flavor I LOVE. However I am having issues with nut milk. I wanted to make chocolate almond milk for a creamy chocolatey treat and while the flavor was awesome I don't care for the grit of the almond pulp. I have used fine metal filters but some still gets through. Is the nut milk bags the way to go? I love the flavor and if I can get the grit out I'm really excited about this 'new' addition to my recipes. HELP!
I think I can get my kids to drink it too if it's not gritty so this is really a big one for my family!
Thanks! :p

Hey Pamela,

Yes, a nutbag is the way to go if you don't like the grit.

You can make one really easily if you sew at all.
Just use unbleached muslin and make a small bag. Mine is about 9 inches long and oh, maybe 6 inches wide. It has a drawstring, but frankly, I never use that.

I pour the milk in then use the string loop to hang it above a bowl, which catches the filtered milk. I just let it hang awhile. Then I use the meal in the bag in chips or bread or something.

Good luck!

Thanks!
I do sew and I have muslin ( which I use to get the wax/hair off my furry eyebrows. LOL)
I didn't think about this, but it is brilliant!
Thank you very much

Alissa also sells nutmilk bags, and they are excellent made out of nylon, I've had mine 5 years, I bought two, and except for the occasiona, escape of some pulp from a burst seem (which I just stitch right up) they are still working perfectly.

You can also buy paint strainer bags at the hardware store, but the holes seem too big for me

I live my nutmilks smooooooooooooooth, yummy

Hi
New to this, but saw your question. I have been using a filter that looks a lot like a knee-high pantyhose. It has an elastic band at the top and filters the mylk super smooth. For extra chocolatey drinks we split the measure of carob with finely ground raw chocolate nibs. :D
