View Full Version : Another Yellow Teeth, White Teeth Question

Like several people on this forum, I'm having a problem with my teeth changing from white to yellow since incorporating a raw foods diet. Even though I've read through previous posts on this topic, I still could use some additional support or help in figuring out what I can do to change this situation.

One of the posts indicated that a common mistake people make with raw foods is not getting enough greens and therefore the reason for yellow teeth. My thought was that maybe it was actually the green smoothies that were at the root of the yellowing issue for me as I consume several a day. Are these smoothies staining my teeth beyond repair? I know this is a vanity issue. *sigh*

And, if more greens is the answer, how many greens should one consume each day and in what form?

How many greens should be consumed in a green smoothie (i.e. how many cups) daily?

How many cups of greens should be consumed in a salad daily?

Is it better to eat a smoothie or a salad or does it matter? And, for those who have had the lucky fortune of their teeth becoming whiter on a raw foods diet can you give me an idea of what a typical day looks like for you in terms of what you eat (i.e. solids vs. smoothies or juices)?

I appreciate any and all advice and suggestions on this topic.
Thanks!

Hi green Berry,

I am pleased that you started this thread.
Im sorry, i cant help you.
I would also like some help with this issue.

I started with ivory colourd teeth, they turned white, then suddenly yellowed.
Now they are whiter near the gums but more yellow towards the biting surface.

This has happened over a period of almost two months on high raw/ now total raw.

I was sort of concerned, but as things seem to change so quickly i just wrote it in my diary and waited to see what happened next!

has anyone else experienced this?

Hi, has anyone used Perfect Perscription Tooth Soap? I have been thinking about purchasing it. It comes in both a jar and a pump. Would like to know of any of your experiences using this product. Which one is the best to use? :D :D :D

Check out this thread, particularly the post by Raw Priestess part of the way down. White teeth are not all they are cracked up to be!

I heard that it is not good to brush too much, because you may be hindering the mouth's natural processes of handling fruit sugar etc.... it's best to wait awhile after eating something sugary before brushing so that nature takes its course. I know this has nothing to do with teeth's color, but it's worth noting.

Sorry, but I cannot agree with that - the longer sugar surrounds the teeth, the longer bacteria have the opportunity to feed upon the sugar and generate acid byproducts.

If you don't want to brush, then at least rinse with water and baking soda or eat celery or other dark green leafy vegetable, to clean the teeth, induce salivation, and provide alkaline minerals to neutralize any acids.

Arky I agree with you completely. From personal experience, I notice my teeth will get yellow if I don't brush after eating or at least rinse with water, especially after eating sweet fruits. This is very important I feel. Try it out and see what happens!

I use it! I have the pump...let me tell you...that stuff tastes so gross :o I followed the instructions the first time I used it which says "Pump once or twice in mouth" then brush. I just about threw up from gagging! So now I just pump it a couple times onto my toothbrush and brush, then it's not so bad. I use the citrus "flavor". It mainly just smells citrusy, it was kind of disappointing. But it seems to work pretty well...
