ok i am new to the raw thing and i've been doing alot of research. still trying to get a handle on it as cooked food is soooo good to me but i know not good for me. i have two kids andi want them to lead the healthy life...im trying to get rid of the family legacy of high blood pressure, heart issues, and diabetes...so far, i'm 30 and have managed to keep the cholesterol low (a few years backthe dr told me it was high and i got it down really quickly) i love to cook so this raw thing is gonna be a new cooking experience. any advice would be helpful.
:p

ive been a strict vegan for 13 years , and now a raw foodist 6 months . and 2 habits ive arrived at are making big batches of vegi rich salad (without tomatoes added til eating cuz they make lettuce soggy) that i can have ready to always eat without preperation . i use like 3 or 4 gallon stainless steel stock pots with good fitting lids to store my salads in , and i always add alot of dark green like brocoli , spinach and dandelion because you will read so many knowledgable people suggesting to include them in diet for a miriad of reasons besides their high vitamin a and calcium content . my other habit is trail mix / granola , i make my own of sunseed , almonds , walnuts , raisins , dry pineapple , etc that i carry anywhere i go in those plastic screw top jars that peanuts are sold in for a very portable anytime quick energy fuel . and i also take this trail mix and grind it up in blender into bb sized bits that i eat out of bowl with cinnamon sprinkled on along with cut up fruit such as banana , strawberry etc . having big batches of mix always at hand gives me another meal to go with my salads that i always can utilize to make the eating process fast and efficient . youll love the extra free time youll receive from not cooking and cleaning up the mess of cooking . goodday :)

Welcome to the world of raw soprofound !
I've been on my raw journey a few months. Loving it but do find it difficult to be completely 100%...lately however I join the Spring Challenge and it has really helped to do it with a group of positive people.
BTW - I'm also in Philly :D

Soprofound,
I would love to do the raw buddy thing as well ...it gets rough.
Eventually I would like to have a support group started where we could do potlucks and such.
I grew up in the Germantown/ Mt Airy area... however 2.5 years ago I moved to Elkins Park so that I could get my son into a better school district(abington). I'm in Philly daily though and it a very short distance aways.
What about you? where are you located?
