View Full Version : Did you check your ph and sweet fruit question

I am reading that book The ph Miracle and I got tons of questions
Do you use sweet fruit(I do) and if you do, what is your ph level?
If all sweet fruit is acidic, is it good idea to use it in big amounts?
Victoria Boutenko was raw for 10 years and still was too acidic untill she started using a lot of greens in smoothies, but doesn't she just cancells out a lot of greens with bananas and other sweet fruit?
Now I understood why I can eat several pounds of cucumber in one sitting(and I always craved it)- it is the only fruit with the same level of alkalinity as greens! I ordered some ph paper rolls(much cheaper online), so I am going to eat what I eat now, just to check it, when I get the paper and then I will experiment with cutting out sweet fruit for a while and check again.
But maybe somebody already did that? Please, share!

Do you have Green for Life? She does speak to the fruit question in there. Also, her recent newsletter stressed that you should check your urine for pH, not your saliva.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, but, while a terrific book, The pH Miracle doesn't specifically address those bodies eating all raw & living foods, does it? It may seem like I'm picking on little things, but I understand that almost all fresh veggies and fruits are alkaline-forming whereas it's the cooked and processed foods that are acid-forming. So, overall, simply eating all raw will pretty much keep you alkaline.

What do you say?

You are right - the author is just 80 percent raw- and he does stress that a lot,but he says, that his tests showed, that all sweet fruit is acid forming and I read in one raw food book, that the only fruit that is not acid forming is vine ripe fruit - how much of these do we see even organic?
Why I am getting into that - lately I've been binging a lot and I am never satisfied, and it happens, that I increased fruit in my diet. So I am thinking, maybe that's why.I am 4 months all raw.

I don't know about the Ph Miracle but I coincidently picked up some ph strips (urine) at the store today. After an all raw diet for 6 weeks and daily green smoothies for 2 weeks my test came back totally alkaline. I was surprised. My wife who has been about half raw and only a couple green smoothies so far was still acid..

Can you share what excatly the number was? The book I am reading doesn't exactly say, what reading is the best for urine, it just says to measure the second urine in the morning before eating anything. For the blood is 7.365.

it doesnt say exactly either.. it says that optimal is between 6.5 and 7.5 and mine looks like it dark enough to be 7.5. My wifes was 5.5.

i also measured in the evening (before dinner).. so I will test it again in the morning..

I have been checking mine and regardless of what I eat it stays at the 7 color (using urine). Before Raw it was 6.5 (eating high Protein Diet).

The PH Miracle does advocate a RAW diet, all if you can, but understanding that if you cannot ( I got the impression he & is family do) he gives the freedom to do AMAP.

Fwiw, This morning I tried the second urine of the morning before breakfast as GreeninL.A. mentioned, and I was still in the blue/7.5 color on my chart. My half raw diet wife who was 5.5 last night was in the blue/7.5 color this morning too. All of my 3 kids, aged almost 2, almost 7 and almost 9 all tested blue/7.5 even though they still have predominantly SAD diets..

That's interesting -maybe kids are still naturally more alkaline? My strips still did not come. But your wife's results even more interesting - huge difference. Did she eat something green at night? Can we trusts those strips?

we had a salad for dinner last night.. then i just found out she tested herself this morning about half an hour after she had sprouted grain toast with tomato and a green smoothie..

And I could not resist to try fruit free day(except grapefruit, which the book says is still acceptable) and my energy is much higher, even now, late at night. I just ate salads, wheatgrass juice, crakers and grapefruit.

I believe that if you are detoxing a lot your pH may still be acidic, even if you eat a lot of greens. I have done a couple of weeks drinking just green smoothies, I was losing a lot of weight and detoxing, and in the morning my pH was very acidic (about 5.0)!!
I did try to drink plenty of water to help flushing out my toxic garbage.

The PH Miracle was the first book that started me on my journey to raw. When I first started, my PH was consistently between 4 and 5. I was extremely toxic and, three years later (almost one year 100% raw), I consistently test first thing in the morning at between 6.5 and 7. I'm very happy with this because it is within the acceptable range and also I KNOW that I'm still detoxing a LOT daily (been having MAJOR symptoms for the past 3 months) and those toxins partially are coming out in the urine, yet I'm still holding at 6.5 to 7. That tells me that without the toxins, my diet would be allowing me to be a lot higher PH, so I'm on the right track!

As far as the fruit, yes, he does really prefer one to stay clear of fruit. I believe it's because if disease is already in the body, the fruit feeds it (ie: candida, cancer, etc.) Use your discretion and of course eat the freshest fruit you can get.....unripe fruit is acidic and even if it was picked unripe (ie: all grocery store fruit) it is going to be a lot less alkaline than naturally.

If you're concerned about the effectiveness of your strips, buy another type and double check. I do this periodically just to assure I don't get a bad batch. Health stores usually carry them or can order them for you.

Hope that helps! By the way, I think the book is a great starting point to raw, because he insists on at least 70% raw only, the other 30% can really only be cooked vegetables or whole grains. That's quite a step for most people!

Good luck!

Thanks, that makes sense. i got my strips too and my base acidity is 5-5.5. So it takes long time to improve that. My evening one is 7.5, but that doesn't mean much yet. So I can expect to earn better one with several more years raw. Now I just need to gather the strength to ditch the salt and the sweet fruit...

Im curious........

Are you all testing first thing in the moring before eating or drinking anything?
