How can you tell their ripeness. I just purchased to bunches yesterday...and used a couple for my green smoothie...they were a little tougher to the point that the flesh kept sticking to the skin when I tried to peel them. Since the skin is already sort of brown..how do I know that they are ripe?
Thanks

If they're Lady fingers usually the best way to tell is by how firm or soft they feel. (the softer the riper obviously) You should also start to see dark yellow to brown on the skin. But, are they red bananas? Those also look like bunches of mini bananas. They come to the market green and then ripen to a dark maroon.

You know what...I think they are red bananas...atleast that's what I remember the sign reading. To touch they were pretty firm but pretty brown on the outside. The only reason I got them is because they didn't have any reg size organic bananas..and I certainly didn't want to go non-organic.
