I sprouted buckwheat for a recipe, and then when I could not use it all, I dehydrated it. It has been sealed in a baggie in my cabinet for awhile (a month or so, but not longer than 3). First of all, is it safe? And what can I use it for now? I did a search, and I'm interested in trying the buckwheat in a cereal...maybe just with bananas and almond milk??? But I wanted to check and see if it's safe to eat, or should I throw it out, and how can I tell if it's gone bad? Sorry for all the questions. thanks in advance.

I see no reason for it to not be safe. Why would you think so? (..think I'm missing something here.)

Have you seached online for raw recipes using buckwheat? If you've got Juliano's book, he's got a recipe for "buckwheaties".

Mmmm. I'm thinking Alissa's burger buns were with buckwheat but not sure.

I just use is w/ almond milk or make it up as a granola.

I guess not growing up with anything "sprouting", I'm still not sure when it goes bad. I guess I should say....growing up, if it was "sprouting" it was bad and you threw it away (like potatoes for example), so I guess it's hard for me to know how long some of the sprouted stuff stays good. Like I said the buckwheats are sprouted and dehydrated.....just not sure how long they keep. A granola recipe would be great, as we are planning an early camping trip!!

O.k., gotcha.

Well, once they are dehydrated they last quite some time. I think mine lasted MONTHS! lol Oh! yanno what? There's a thread on here that has a cereal made with buckwheat methinks. brb

Thanks Revell....You've been a big help. I guess I don't have to throw my buckwheats out. I think I'll try a granola.
