Misslinda,

I just got mine too. So far I have made pesto stuffed mushrooms, flax seed crackers, and a multi nut & grain cracker, as well as apple crisp cobbler. My next dish will probably be a quiche or a savory cassarole or lasagne.

misslinda,

I feel all growed up. Yes, I love it. It is such a great quality dehydrator. I used to have one of the plastic round ones, but I left that in Iowa at my Grandmothers house. I would not have been able to make the dishes that I mentioned above, because I would have needed a square dehydrator. What is the first thing you are going to make in it?

Linda congrats on getting your NEW DEHYDRATER!!!!!, you will just love those recipes from Alissas book I know I have enjoyed making some of them and they taste wonderful. I remember when I used to just drool over the recipes too until I was finally able to make them. You'll have to let us know what recipes you enjoy. Take care and have fun uncooking :D . Karen

congratulations Miss Linda,

You're gonna' have so much fun

My favorites are the
pesto stuffed mushrooms (we also stuff tomatoes and squash)mmmmmmmm
pizza wraps
meatloaf(we make them in burger patties)
falafal
bar-b-que chicken fingers

these are our ultimate favorites in the dehydrator.

you can also make your own dried herbs and spices and fruit leather,

Congratulations MissLinda on the new dehydrator.. I have one of the round ones.. and dream someday of having an Excalibur... my problem is being patient enough to wait for the items to get done. lol... Some people must be having theirs run constantly to have enough items to eat everyday..like crackers and such. hmmm guess I need to go scour the recipe section again.. must have missed those crepes and pizza roll ups and salt substitute..

Pizza wraps!!! (Alissa's book)

Enchiladas!!! (Alissa's book)

Onion bread!!! (this forum)

'Course, my all time success is the basic flax crackers (the ones with ginger, garlic & lemon). Sooooo easy, sooooo economical.

Congrats!

The pesto stuffed mushrooms and enchiladas are a favorite although I think its worth it to make a double batch as they tend to go fast. Normally Alissa's recipe's are more than enough for the single living me but with those, I like to make double batches. Same with the pizza bread. A lot ingredients are required and so I find its more economical to use the whole bunch (cilantro, parsley, etc) and make double batches. I love the basic flax crackers and onion bread too; mmmmmm.

I also like that I can take fruit that is about to turn and dehydrate or make fruit leather. Why, why, why must all of the banana's in my house ripen at once! I try to buy "still a ways to ripen," "almost ripe," and "just ripe" bananas so I have them throughout the week. But, it's like a conspiracy, they all talk overnight and I suddenly have 15 very ripe bananas in the morning. Even with all the smoothies I make, I only have use for so many frozen bananas.

Is there an emoticon for jealousy?? :D Well, at least the face is green.

That does it! I'm getting a dehydrator as soon as possible. I've been having so much fun since I got a food processor I can't imagine the headiness of a dehydrator!

Scrimping and saving,
