View Full Version : No appetite.
I haven't been hungry in a few days. I don't want my metabolism to slow down, so I am eating a little every 4-5 hours. But NOTHING is appealing to me. Anyone know why this would happen-I don't feel ill at all.
Breakfast-8 oz of green smoothie
snack: 5 macadamias
lunch: 10 grapes and 3 TBSP tahini
dinner: green salad and 2 dates stuffed with coconut
does this seem like enough? I go on my ellpitical for 50 minutes and do 100 sit ups, 30 push ups, plus my reg. daily cleaning and childcare. If I had to "pinpoint" a craving I would say fat/protein, but those things look only slightly more appitizing...
I just really want my metabolism revved up so I can drop 25 more lbs....

I do not believe that you are doing yourself any harm on the diet described above but I think that maybe the reason that you are not eating more is because you have nothing nice sitting around.
Make yourself a date nut tort or anything that you realy like and see if it causes your appitite to pick up.
you might be right-but even my "favs" have lost their appeal. I've been 100% raw for 27 days. I went to wholefoods lastnight in search of what my body really wanted and NOTHING, except Kombucha  looked good!!! I even told myself that perhaps I could have a salad with roasted garlic dressing, MY ALL TIME FAV, and when I looked at it, I just went "Uh, no thanks."
I've always been a major overeater-I would eat anything whether I was hungry or not. I've always done so for comfort too...so this is totally foriegn to me :D

Try obeying your body. Maybe it just needs a day where the digestion can heal and relax. A fasting day? Keeping it working all the time, must be taxing on the intestines.

Purl,
I went through the same exact thing durning my 30 day challenge. Almost down to the day you are going through it. I think I was slightly earlier, about day 25, but awful close. What I ended up doing is a two day water fast. I felt like I was being drawn to it. I had been eating less and less and trying to deal with food was just a struggle. I decided to just go with the flow and see what would happen. The first day of the fast was a breeze, I started to get hungry late afternoon on the second day. So I broke fast that evening. It was a wonderful experience for me. It reminded me that there is a difference between body hunger and mind hunger. The mind is so used to eating that it feels that it has too even when the body doesn't want to. I am definately not eating as much food now as I did when I started, but I also know that it is OK as my body is telling me when it wants food. What an amazing thing to me since I've always had to depend on counting calories or points or whatever to keep from gaining weight!

Hehe, normal? Good thing your winking at me on that one or I'd have to let you know how far from normal I am :D It is nice to see when someone else is going through the same stuff though. This is all so new and it is hard to figure out what is 'normal' (hehe) and what could be a problem.

I went through the exact same thing at the exact same time. Then, all of a sudden, I got my apetite back, my body began rebuilding itself, and everything tasted heavenly!
I totally agree that your body is probably detoxing and will be able to do so much more quickly and efficiently if you just give your digestive system a rest for a while.
Fast if you want to, or do what I did - only eat if you're hungry.
One way I could tell that I wasn't hungry (even if it seemed like I should be because it had been a long time since I'd eaten) was that if I ate anyway, the food didn't satisfy anything. Just felt like it sat in my stomach - kinda like how it feels when you eat while stressed.
Hang in there! You're definitely normal, and you're most likely doing things right to even get to where you are now. Just think about how your body is healing itself inside, where you cannot see. And know that your appetite will naturally return when it's ready.

I think this is definately normal. I went through this when I was 2 weeks 100% raw. (I've had to start from the top again, but that is another story) I posted a thread that was "lack of appetite" or something like that if you want to look it up. I got some great responses, very similiar to what is posted here! I was worried about slowing down the metabolism and weight loss, but decided to chill and let my body lead. My appetite came back! It took about four days or so.
Just listen to your body!
