I cannot stand grapefruit but bought one anyway. I forced myself to eat half of it this morning but I need ideas for what I can do with the other half (other than composting it!). Any good recipes?

I've always enjoyed juicing them. Drink as is or stir in sparkling water or agave.

Also, I like them in salads.

Blessings.

I love grapefruit. I section it and add orange flavored stevia, some Tocotrienols, and a teaspoon of Maca. This is an aquired taste so I guess not the best one to share.

Try stevia, or agave...and sprinkle with a few chopped dates or raisins and a sprinkle of your favorite nut. Walnuts go well with grapefruit. I had that mixture when at a breakfast buffet of SAD food.

Hey, if you don't like grapefruit there's much more other fruit to choose from ;-) That's the beauty of this program, isn't it...

I absolutely love grapefruit and all citrus fruit. I eat 'em whole or juice them. If you get alot of the pith then they're not quite as tasty. But, I like the added nutrient value contained in the pith (the white stuff between the peel and the flesh of the fruit?) You could also squeeze a bit of the juice and put in a bit of avocado to make a salad dressing to throw on some greens.

Oh, and if you juice 'em, be sure not to include the seeds. I usually add back in the pulp though.

I've not seen too many recipes for grapefruit; but, others on this board probably have a hundred of 'em...

One of my favorite smoothies:

Mango and Grapefruit w/ a one or two blood oranges and some blueberries/blackberries....

Grapefruit should dominate though... try it...add stevia or agave if needed

Hey Raene,

I'm so hearing you with the grapefruit. I loathe grapefruit, unfortunately as a kid my family had like several trees of the blasted thing in the yard, so I had to go and pick them for brekkie and dodge geckos too (loathe geckos also.)

So juice grapefruit but make sure that you juice double the amount of peach juice in the mix, and water, and agave or yacon syrup (yes yacon syrup is raw) to taste and drink up.

This tastes fantastic!!!!! :D :p

I love them and my two year old loves them too, but he likes them without skins, and I eat them with all those bitter skins-delicious! Vandy, beautiful picture with them!

Someone at sometime posted that their grandmother would eat the grapefruit with a bit of salt on them. Well I had this grapefruit that I bought in the store cause it just smelled soooooo good. I would eat grapefruit before, but only with a bunch of sugar on it :D However I tried it with salt on it this morning. Not alot, just a pinch of celtic salt sprinkled over the whole grapefruit that I had sectioned out. I let it sit for a bit to let the salt do it's thing then I scarfed that grapefruit down and wanted more! Unfortunately I only had one.. WOW.. how yummy was that!

Hmm... I'm now a grapefruit fan.

Just a quick question - about how long did you dehydrate the grapefruit sections for? Approximately?

I grew up eating grapefruit with salt on it - didn't even know people put sugar on them until I was an adult. Since going raw, I eat my grapefruit plain (unless they're terribly sour). I've noticed my tastes have changed considerably since going raw, even though my diet was vegan for 17 years.

My mother-in-law always juices a grapefruit with a pitcher of orange juice. It's delicious!
