I cannot find buckwheat in my area and I notice quite a few recipies like the burger buns call for it. Can anything else be substituted?

Thanks!
Nancy

Hi Nancy,

What isyour area? You didn't say, and I notice you didn't fill that info in on your profile. I ALWAYS want to know where people are. :)

My quick answer is to order the buckwheat if at all possible, by phone or mail or on the internet, rather than try to do without. Buckwheat is kind of unique, and hard to substitute for.

And the alternative is to find other recipes that don't call for buckwheat.

well, can you use kasha instead?
i'm new to raw and honestly don't know if it would be that big of a deal for me to use it.
I looked ALL over for this stuff and got home to discover it wasa toasted :(

samadhisoul,
you're right - kasha is toasted buckwheat.
i get my raw buckwheat groats from sunorganics.com. they also sell the best raw nuts and seeds IMO.
you can do so many great things with buckwheat -- i think its worth mail ordering.
many blessings to you!
