Hello:
I am starting my third week of eating 100% raw and have never felt better in my life at 39 years old. I was introduced to this way of life by a dear friend in Laguna Beach, Ca. Without the gracious cooking of Ursula at The Good Mood Cafe in Huntington Beach, Ca., I would be unable to do this. If any person knows of any simple & quick recipes, I was hoping they might share them with me. I would also like to know of any other stores and/restaurants in my local area. I look forward to being healthy, mwhole, clean, and spiritually awake as a raw vegan.
PEACE

There are lots of good recipes at www.fromsadtoraw.com. You can make lots of yummy dishes with a few ingredients, a sharp knife, and a blender. Welcome, and enjoy :)

You know, Alissa lives in that area! If she gets around to your post, I'm sure she will share a few with you. I know Au Lak (or Au Lac) is one of her favorite raw food restaurants, and it is in Fountain Valley. I have heard good things about it too but I have not been able to try it yet. I live about an hour away from there and haven't been able to get to that area. Anyway, good luck on your journey!

Hi! :D
I was so excited to see someone else new here in Orange County. I started transitioning to raw on December 27. Not perfect by any means yet, but getting there, indeed. I have found a couple of places that are not necessarily Raw Restaurants, but that serve some raw foods. "Native Foods" in Costa Mesa makes really good "Raw Tacos". And yesterday I found a little place in Irvine called the "Earth Cafe". I've heard good things about Au Lac, though I have been there yet. And I'm one of the Mother's Markets pretty much everyday - they sell various raw products, as well as their cafe having a couple of menu items that are "raw adapable".

So glad you are here!

Hi!
I started transitioning at the begining of this year also. I am experimenting with recipes and shopping, etc. Anyway, I don't really know anybody who also does this and I was wondering if you might want to help me start some sort of weekend breakfast club. Maybe we could go get smoothies or go to Good Mood Food for breakfast. If you are interested you can email me at telia_weisman@yahoo.com.

Hi Telia,

I live in the Seal Beach area and have been at Good Mood Food Cafe a couple of times a week for the last month or so. I'm in starting my 6th day of 100% raw, though I've been flirting with it seriously for the last two months and just interested for the last couple of years.

Au Lac is phenomenal. The humble and wonderful chef Ito creates marvels. I ran into him last Thursday in the produce section of Mother's HB, also. Great store though I do pick up some things at Wild Oats on PCH in LB. Farmers markets are the best, though.

Well, I don't want to get off the Welcome topic, here, but I'd be interested in getting together also.

You might want to drop into The Living Temple at Old World Village in Huntington Beach and talk with Robin Jones, the owner. He just held a Raw Food Festival there on Saturday. He does them monthly, and he can give you even more info. I listed a bunch of information on him; you can search for my posts and find it.

You're living in the perfect location for your raw journey, Tiela.

Congratulations.
