Hi, I tried to search this topic to avoid repeating an old question, but couldn't find what I was looking for. I make raw "mashed potatoes" (ground cauliflower) and add sea salt, freshly ground pepper, and olive oil for dinner. While this is healthy it smells awful everytime I prepare it. Does anyone have answer on how to avoid the stench of the cauliflower when it grind in my ultimate chopper (food processor)?
1. The cauliflower is fresh (not old/expired)
2. The cauliflower is not organic
3. The cauliflower is prewashed and is Trader Joe's brand
4. The cauliflower seems to only smell once I break open the florets in my processor (enzyme issues?)
Anybody got an answer? (Presently I have to light a candle when I make it to overpower to smell.) I really like cauliflower and don't wanna stop eating it just because it smells. :(

Are you using Alissa's recipe, with the onion, cashews, and olive oil? If not, you should try it. I've never had any issue with smell using this recipe.
Matter of fact, since I favor "garlic mashed," I usually toss in a couple of raw gloves of garlic, and it easily tops any cruciferous whiff that may be lurking there.

There's something in it that give me.. well.. KOWABUNGA stinky farts! And gas that hurts ... and a burning stomach. I don't know.. it just doesn't agree with me.
I made the chicken tenders from Alissa's book and tried them .. they tasted great but oh my god, I almost gassed myself out. No more of that!
I have tried it as "rice" in the Nori and don't have the same result.. maybe the seaweed calms it down. :o

Thanks for the help guys! (I'm so glad you're here.) I'll look in Alissa's book--I was just going off of a recipe on-line. Sorry about your Cowabunga stinky farts, Rowan. I guess we all have our digestion/elimination issues. Too much fruit gives me hemorrhoids!

Actually seaweed will calm down gas caused by veggies or beans. Neat huh? If you have anyone you still cook for and they like beans, but not the gas, stick a decent sized piece of kombu into the pot then pull it out when done. It will help with the gas.

Flax crackers have an adverse effect on me - need I go into detail here?? Symptoms already vividly described by others!! :D
I guess people have different constitutions but it's useful to find ot about some antidotes to the 'flatulence' problem.
Please note that we English are just sooooo genteel in our descriptions.... must be years of boarding school and cold baths.
