There was a group of us having Costco birthday cake for a co-worker. (Relax, I didn't have any). Anyway, my boss brought up the raw food diet she read about in our local paper last week. People were surprised to hear of such a diet. My boss looks at me and I said, "Oh yes. I know a lot of people who follow that food plan."
Did I say that? I don't "know" any of you, really. Have never met a single one of you on this forum, but I feel like I know you. Pretty cool, huh? Now, I'm not raw yet, but I am transitioning. So I didn't feel comfortable speaking from a personal perspective. But I did feel comfortable sharing your successes with the group. Thanks to all of you for allowing me to get to "know" you via this forum.

Cool! What a great response! Good luck on your transition.
I read somewhere (maybe vegsource.com) that the RAW food diet is the fastest growing segment of vegetarian diets?
I long for the day when the demand is strong enough to be able to find RAW food restaurants in Kentucky :-)
(Oh, besides the grocery stores where you can get the ultimate fast food -- apples, bananas, etc...)

Pamojamo,
that is really sweet of you to say of this forum. How exciting that you are part of a growing life force and have experiences to share with them as well :) More admirably, for not eating that COSTCO cake..btw, I didn't know there was a COSTCO in Nashville. :) I live not too far from where the founder grew up and was either kidnapped or almost kidnapped as a child!

At a potluck with Alissa and her raw LOLF chefs, YEP, that's where I wanna' be.

I would be interested to know if the report in the local paper was a positive one and if the reaction of your co-workers was positive.
And well done. Hope that next time to topic comes up you will be able to add lots of personal experience.

I'll say the article was balanced. Lots of good stuff from raw fooders. The Hallalujia Diet (85% raw) was referenced a bit.Someone who operates a raw food retreat center was featured and she looked radiant in her photo! Of course, a doc from Vanderbilt University Medical Center was interviewed and poopooed the raw food movement. Interestingly, and I dont't mean to sound judgemental, but the doc did not look radiant in her headshot!
The next day or so, there was a letter to the editor from a raw fooder.
As for the office conversation, most had never heard of raw fooders and couldn't imagine living that way. My boss seemed open minded to the health benefits.

We'll never find raw food restraunts in Kentucky. Not unless we decide to open one fiddler! :D Oh I could dream! I'm just waiting for Whole Foods to start carrying more raw stuff, now that would be nice!
