Hi Anne,
I found some threads that discuss member swith their gallbladder removed. I don't have personal experience so I hope that these threads can offer you more helpful information. As far as the enzymes go, I don't see why it would hurt, if I am not mistaken,,,,having your gallbladder removed results in the bile dripping continuously into the stomach b/c the gallbladder is what acted as a resevoir before it was removed. Seems like pain and vomitting are common traits b/c the bile dripping alters the stomach ph and making it very acidic???

I had my gall bladder removed a few years back and I've never heard of this recommendation.
I eat only RAW foods and do not take any supplements except for a vegan B12 pill 3 or 4 times a month. Raw foods are loaded with enzymes according to all the authors I've read (and I've read many books/articles).
My digestion has never been better (even without the gall bladder) and I believe that the improved digestion is a result of eating raw fruits and vegetables properly combined.
I also believe that if I had been following a raw diet like I'm on today that I wouldn't have had my gall bladder removed. I do try to watch the fat intake these days too...

Fiddler,
thank you for the clarification. Enzymes may be supplemetnal if you are not completely raw of feel you need assitance in digesting Like Fiddler said raw foods are packed with enymes!
May I ask what brand of VIt b12 you use?

my gallblader and spleen were removed when I was 8 (now 33) due to a blood disorder I have (haemalitic anemia) and I suffered from stomach pain all my life until i become vegan - then the stomach pains went.
Now I am about 70% raw and provided I don't binge(problem of mine - especially chocolate) then I have no troubles. Only time I was recommended to take enzymes was when I was asking a personal trainer about weight loss - without a gall bladder it is harder to break down fats which leads to a whole other host of problems
I say be vegan, high raw and skip the tablets - but that is just me - you have to see what works for you

If your digestion is OK, don't worry about it. But I had a friend who had her gallbladder removed and was very gassy afterwards. She found that papaian (papaya) and bromelein (pineapple) digestive supplements made her more comfortable.
As a raw foodist, I'd recommend raw papaya and raw pineapple for the same purpose.

One of the many wonderful things about eating raw is you get the enzymes with the food.
So, you may be able to not take those tablets, maybe you could ask your doctor about that.
Hey! Thanks to everyone who responded!! You know, I don't remember having stomach pain, and I didn't know that the bile drips right into the stomach :( , but I do take milk thistle because at times my liver feels "heavy". I am hoping eating raw will help. About 10-12 years ago I had Hepatitis (they did not know which type) and found out about 5 years ago it was "c". I have regular panels done on my liver and they all come back normal, and I believe it was because I Juiced alot with carrot and beet when I was sick.
Today is day 4 of 100% raw and I feel good. I made raw chocolate pudding last night, everyone loved it (recipie from the raw table-thanks!)
I hope you try it if you have not!!!
Blessings to all!!
Anne :)
