One of my relatives sent this to me - I just thought people who have little space for gardens might enjoy this. It may work for other items as well?

That is such a cool idea especially like you said for those with limited space thanks for sharing the link.

Oh that is nifty! I saw on a show about a woman who took a bale of hay. Cut out 2 holes then put in some soil then tomato plants. I dont know if that would use less space though.

I did this myself last year and it cost a heck of a lot less than $69!

You can use various types of hanging planters. The ones with wire frames and moss are nice because you can plant several tomatoe plants in them. Just make holes all around and put your wee plants in up past the first 2 leaves. Then hang it up.

For plastic hanging planters, drill a hole in the bottom (if you do it in the sides, the plastic will damage the stem) then plant the tomatoe upside down. This works best for cherry tomatoes. You can also put parsley and cilantro in the same planter, or plant flowers on top like marigolds, which will protect your tomatoes from pests.

By the way.. the coconut planters didn't work :(
After about 2 weeks, they got moldy and aren't looking too good.

Hey I agree totally, I can build one of these out of some pvc piping for 1/2 of the cost. But not everybody is as handy as you and I are :)

There is always room for a garden, even just a few herb plants and a tomato on the window sill. or in a window box, or on an apartment balcony.

or in the back room with a grow light.

If you REALLY want to do it, you can do it.

Our tomato plants climbed up our grape arbor last year, and loved hanging down, so this year we are building some kind of tomato arbor for them to grow on, they keep knocking down everything we build, tear apart the 2 X 4's so we've gone to steele poles. they bent them

those tomato plants are pretty darn strong.

there are countless way to grow plants without sun and without soil, there is hydroponics, grow lights, green houses, saunas, hot tub rooms, the bathroom, the utility room, the back porch, if it needs warmth, add insulation and a small heater, if it needs sun, add some grow lights, if it needs space, use shelves, you can do this, it isn't hard, it just takes time and knowledge, which you can get in books, on this board, or just ask, I and my hubby will be happy to help you.

I also know that Sweetgoddess, is a great grower of sustanance also.

A cool thing to do with tomatoes is hang them upside down. Eliminates the need for stakes, and the tomaters really like it. Several green house supply places are carrying upside down planters and planting sacks this year.
