I am in need of a little support right now and am in a bit of a panic and you are all so full of information and knowledge that I thought I would see what peoples advice would be . I have been trying the 8/1/1 approach as of just a couple of days and now I am starting to get skin reactions on my face again very itchy and kind of red and rashy and this is one of health issues I had to begin with and was healing, thats why I decided to go raw. My skin was pretty much cleared up and healed with just the odd accasional itch. Do you think that this is to do with die off or due to the higher sugar consumption causing problems with my leaky gut and candidaa again. I am so scared that I have done harm to what had already started to heal by doing this. What do you think I should do for the best?. Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks as always in advance.

I'd do more of whatever was working! If you were getting good results before 811 then give that way of eating another try. I know on 811 they seem to say that if you're not exercising, or if you're combining high fat with high fruit it can can lead to problems.

The fact that you were getting results says alot! Keep it up!

Cheers,
Sheryl

Hey Karen, I'm sorry you are having an inner angst about what to do.

Here is what I did. I was to the point that a simple apple made gave me problems. I used elm water to repair my leaky gut. The lining is crucial. The leak allow thos toxins to enter into the bloodstream making the liver ovewrworked and potentially underworking......followed by kidnesy/spleen as you are aware with you TCM doctor.

I also did castor oil packs to help detoxify my liver so it could get a break and function a better to do it's job of filtering blood, detoxifyig, etc.

Greens are big on my list to help cleanse the blood and rejuvenate the organs. HOwver, juices were tricky for me b/c of dampness (TCM). I used bitters and probitoics...........if I were you, I would really recommend feremented foods, vegan kefir or Synergy (kombucha tea in raw form)

Meanwhile, I avoided all foods that irritated me until I strengthened. Simple is better with such intricate conditions.

Sometimes the "symptom" can be a level of detox but at the same time it needs to be controlled b/c when your body is compromised and not strong, you can do more damage possibly.

My personal suggestions would be.....

Avoid all irritating foods.

Repair gut--10 days every morning

Followed by probiotic --so far Synergy is the best I have ever had.

Incorporate fermented foods.

Cleanse blood/lymphatic system by exercise, water, bitters if your tcm doctor can tailor to which one (i really like yellow dock) Dandelion is powerful as well.

always keep hand, neck and feet warm.

Make sure you have bowels.

Stimulation is a key word here.

Keep us posted!

Hi Karen,

I would suggest taking this question to the knowledgeable folks over at the 811 board at vegsource. Reason being, not everyone here supports this diet and you could possibly get feedback that will try to dissuade you from continuing.

Side note though, just a couple of days on any diet can't really tell you much, since you just started. There are so many factors to consider. When I start on raw I get a lot of detox, deeper depending on the amount of severity of substances I was ingesting before I started. So if might help to give detail of your food, lifestyle and habits before, as well as what you are eating and doing now.

Hope this helps and see you on the 811 board! :)

Thanks guys for replying to me and giving me the moral support I really appreciate the advice, it's just so nice to know that you always have someone there for the support. I will also follow the diet I was on before this flare up happend, looks like it's back just to veggies and maybe a little low glycemic fruit when I feel I need something different. I gave 8/1/1 a try I know it was only for a couple of days but I can't jepordise what I have already accomplished. I am still continuing with the green smoothies everyday along with salads and I will see what my TCM Dr has to say when I talk to her on Wednesday. I certainly will look into the herbs you suggested misslinda. THANK YOU GUYS!!!!!!.

Karen, if any of those herbs, I would highly suggest doing the Elm water--that is the most simple basic effective means of restoring your stomach terrain to [begin] to fight the fungus, bacteria, toxins etc.

best to you!

Hi Sharon in Colorado, Thanks for the advice I will go over to the vegsource site and do some reading and for now I think I will go back to what I was doing before 8/1/1 as I know it is a safety zone for me right now, I have a hard time not knowing if this is a detox or an allergic reaction, as I had severe skin reactions to all foods I ate at one point it was all over my face and neck . So for me if I start to get this symptom I get a bit worried as I never want to get myself back in that horrible position again. Thank you again for your time and support.
Sincerely Karen

Thanks misslinda you are a wealth of knowledge and information in chinese herbs as well as other areas and it is very much appreciated that you pass that on to others that are in similar situations as you are yourself. I will definetely look into the elm and also ask my Dr if it's ok to add that in to my regime. Thanks again for your caring support.
Sincerely Karen
