One of the things I most love about being raw is the magnificent new delights this often leads to us finding!

Well, I've long been mad for tropical fruits, and I thought I'd just about tried most of them until I came across this list... How many have you tried from below? I got up to 43 which I thought was a pretty respectable effort, but look at some of the possibilities in here! I'm sure I'm not the only one intruiged to find out what "Star Apple (durian Deli)" is, or what the kana (wild olive) must be like!

What's even more amazing is that these are all growing ONE FARM!

*sigh* so much good food to discover and try, such a short lifetime to fit in all in!

You can read more about the delicious monster fruit HERE (http://www.deliciousorganics.com/recipes/monstera.htm)

It's very common in Australia and found in about half the front yards around. Only people over 90 seem to know it's an edible fruit though!

Cheers,
Sheryl

I just had a Cherimoya yesterday. It was so good! One woman described it to me as she tasted it like a flower. That is exactly what I would say if you can imagine what a flower tastes like, this is it. It even smells like a flower!

I had to bring one home and share with the family! Next time you get the chance, give it a try. The skin should be starting to turn brown/black (you don't want to get one that is bright green) and the inside should be white and a bit creamy.

32 for me,

but I've never been much for exotic fruits, If I'm gonna' pay $10 for a fruit, I want to taste it first.

that is what the dragon fruit was going for in our market, at least we had it, but it was $10 each,

Now in Seattle, a mere 2 hour drive, I'm sure I could find it for much less.

maybe I'll just have to do that, and try some of the delicious sounding items, I'm afraid I wouldn't know if I got a good or bad one.

My first mango tasted like turpentine, that was bout 20 years ago, It took me 17 years to try one again, it was wonderful, but I can still taste the turpentine one that I spent so much money on, YIKES!!

I'll just stick with pears and bananas, pineapple and oranged, and go to pot lucks and eat the cooke exotics there, until I know for sure if I like them LOL

Come visit us in Australia... I can introduce you to some wonderful fruit. I agree when you're paying good $$$ for something you need to know it's tasty!

Wild mangos taste like turpentine... lucky you to have tried a wild one!

Red dragon fruit is quite blah no matter how good they are in my humble opinion... now little yellow ones with spikes... WOW! They are like the champagne of dragonfruit.

We have fresh durian being flown down from northern Queensland for us and are taking delivery from some wonderful new friends on Friday. I'll let you know how it is. The variety is D24 which is amazing (I've had it from Malaysia) and a few other varieties. Along with a fruit (which I hope we get to taste) that is a rare relation of the jackfruit (the sweetest & biggest fruit in the world I have heard).

New discoveries are so exciting!!!

I remember in Canada dragon fruit at Loblaw's was $14.99. I liked the look but there was no way I was going to try it at that price! They are $2-$4 here during the season. I was so innocent in those days with my vegetarian pizza's and Doritos. I have so much more variety in my life now!

Something interesting in Australia... things are much more seasonal. Not like Canada where everything is flown in and available all year round!
