My family and I (Me, my wife, 2 kids: 12 and 13) are going raw!! We are just about 100% SAD right now. This is going to be a challenge, but we are ready.

We are going on our first shopping trip this weekend and I'm looking for advice. We have Alissa's book and DVD, and a few other resources. We've picked out some recipies and are going to get what we need for those, but what else should we be buying? We all love oranges and other easy fruits, so I was planning on getting a lot of those to snack on as we'll be struggling through the first stages of adjusting.

Any other advice? I really want this to work.

i'm completely biased in my answer, buuuut...

DATES!!!

they taste like candy..REALLY! and will be a GREAT treat for those tough times when you encounter cravings for sweet, sugary, cooked food.

at least that's what got me through during the initial stages :)

also..eat as MUCH as you want RAW. forget about portions and calories and fat and protein and all of that for now. listen to your body; if you feel like you need to eat and eat and eat, in my opinion and what has worked for ME, GO FOR IT (as long as its raw, of course). youll eventually balance out

good luck :D

eatyourbroccoli, you are cracking me up with the dates comments lately! :D I love them too. Maybe too much!

Raw nuts are great to have on hand, especially if you are going to make some of the yummy raw recipes! Congrats on doing it together as a family!
