I have less than no money and am trying to go all raw with my kids. I can't afford a dehydrator but have done some experimenting. My oven stays at a stable temp of 108 with just the oven light on if I use a 60 watt bulb. Would this work for dehydrating? Do I need an actual dehydrator so I get the circulating air? Am I missing something? I would like to try some of the treats out on my kiddos and this would be great.

Brilliant! And for less than $15 you can get a clip-on fan (I've seen them at Home Depot, CVS, WalMart, etc) that will move the air inside the oven.
Next thing to tackle is the mesh screens that will allow the air to get to the bottom of the food you're dehydrating. For goopy stuff like flax crackers, just use regular cookie sheets for now.

You can put in a 100 watt bulb to get the heat up a little higher.
