So the other day I did my very first fast.. although people at work don't understand the purpose of them, no matter how I explain it... anyhow, I was listening to my body trying to see when I was hungry, etc.. all day long I did not get hungry once. I was drinking water with lemon, some diluted cran. juice but other than that nothing else. Even the next morning I wasnt hungry still. If I only eat when I am hungry it's only like once a day maybe. Should I force myself to eat more or is this the transition phase of becoming 100% raw?

It's got nothing to do with raw or not. It's all about your body. There will be times when you're hungry, times when you are not. Times when you'll want to (and may) pig out; other times *shrug*

As far as eating once a day ~ that would depend on you. No one here can tell you what you need to do for you. IMO though, "forcing" anything is usually not good.

So, the fast was for one day only?

Hmmm ... I'm unclear also on what you're asking. Maybe, when you've got more time, you can separate out the several things you've touched on : fasting, hunger, and transitioning to raw.

p.s. Alissa's book deals with hunger/meals and "transitioning" issues, by the way.

well I only fasted one day because that following day I had to go to dinner at my fiancee's grandmothers house, who is a very small yet loud italian woman, and I would of been in big trouble if I didn't eat, haha :)
I have to go there again this weekend, so next week I will fast for a few more days :)

Help us out a little here -- (!)

Why are you fasting?

Are you 100% raw?

If so, how long have you been?

What is it that you eat -- a sample few days would help.

Sorry, but most of us flunked our reading minds course, so the more information you give, the more help you'll get! :D

Well unfortunately I am not 100% raw, its something I am battling with. I don't know why, but I am a huge overeater, former diet pill junkie, and during the day I seem to do fine, but when I am at home or at a familys house for dinner I just binge on so much stuff when I am not even hungry. Then the scale says a number much higher and I feel gross because I ate massive SAD food when all it did was make me sad (sorry dumb joke, haha). So I decided to fast one day and I found out I wasnt hungry at all. Not even the next day. So I am having some issues with myself, and its so frustrating. I am really happy when I am slim and 'skinny' I am not overweight at all, but just know I can do so much better and be happier, healthier, free of all my allergies if I can get myself 100% raw.

Hi,

I too, "listened to my body" and discovered that most of the time I literally am not hungry and don't really want anything. I just hibitually ate 3 meals a day. So when I went raw, after a while, I became less and less interested in food and am simply rarely hungry. I told my raw vegan doctor about this and we are going to discuss this more when he gets back in the country in a month or so.

Until then, I am making myself eat at least one bowl of veggies per day and some limeade with stevia.

See I could definitely see myself eating only one bowl of fruit or veggies a day. I mean there are other days when I know I will be have more, but definitely keep me updated on that. I love food, but maybe because I am having such a hard time battling into raw, well it's more of the people around me, I just seem to fall right into the SAD foods when I am around them. I need to be stronger

Sounds like an issue that may not have anything to do with food -- but is surfacing in a way that it seems like it's about the food.

Best of luck in working through this ... and emerging on the other side clear and bright.
