my dc don't like smoothies for breakfast-and i don't know what else to feed them. I make the crepes 1x a week, but all of their other breakfasts are cooked :(

I do raw oatmeal. I know it's been said that steel cut oat groats or whole oat groats aren't really raw, but I still eat them. BUT...Alissa sells some raw oats as well as muesli on her site that you soak overnight and the next morning, add your sweetner, fruit, raisins, etc.

If you want my recipe for delicious (uncooked) oatmeal, let me know!

Otherwise, how about a nice fruit salad or some grawnola? You could also make a raw whipped cream and have them dip fruit in it. Do you have Alissa's book? She has some sweet, nut creams in her book.

My kids generally do smoothies or fruit for breakfast, though. Do they like the banana ice creams? How about a vanilla shake? I make a delicious shake using (sorry, no measurements)

-frozen REALLY RIPE bananas (if not really ripe, then add sweetener such as agave
-either nut milk OR a handful of cashews and small amounts of water until desired consistency
vanilla (maybe 1/2 - 1 tsp.)
and ice

It's thick and delicious! You can make it strawberry by adding frozen strawberries or chocolate by adding carob (if they like carob)

Also, you could chop up some apples and bananas and pour a little nut milk over it, add a little sweetener of choice and some cinnamon.

I've seen a lot of "cereal" recipes posted in this recipe forum.

I was a big oatmeal lover before raw, and I created this and MAN, does it satisfy those cravings:

1-2 cups raw buckwheat, soaked overnite
1/2 cup raisins, soaked with buckwheat
1/3 cups sunflower seeds. soaked with buckwheat
some powdered cinnamon
1 cup almonds, soaked separately

TO MAKE PORRIDGE:
blend buckwheat, raisins and sunflower seeds and cinnamon with some of the soak water to make a thick porridge consistency. Pour homemade almond milk on top

TO MAKE ALMOND MILK:
blend soaked almonds with 3X as much water, separate pulp with sprouting bag, fine mesh strainer, etc.

This is really yummy, and so easy.

Gold Mine has some really good raw granola. Make up some almond milk and you're good to go.

this is my fav breakfast, and i think kids would like it.

cut up at apple, spread almond butter, then drizzle raw honey - yum! then i add extras if i have them, such as cinnamon, celtic sea salt (just a bit - totally yum), or chopped pecans.

yummy yummy, filling and grounding! i love it because i used to eat bread for breakfast - this is just as filling.
:p

* Raw Puddings!! Chocolate, banana/mango -- I think this is in Alissa's book, but it's really easy. Also, there's a bunch of ideas on the Easy Rawbies thread (or whatever MissLinda called it), or other combination.

* Fresh applesauce with crushed nuts on top.

I have three little ones who will eat just about anuthing I sit in front of them, so I am very lucky. some suggestions:

Just fruit!

Fruit chopped up with cocoanut and/or nuts. This morning's creation was pineapple, banana, and cocoanut. I basically use what ever I have on hand.

Apple (in food processor), 1T. flax seed and 1T sesame seed (both ground up and mixed with 1/8 c. water, until water absorbed - less than 15 minutes), cinnamon, and 1-2 t. of lecithin, if you have it, lemon juice if you desire. Mix all in food processor. Serves 1. My big kid (18) requested this yesterday and liked it. I double the seed amounts for big kids.

Milk Shake! Night before soak 1/2 cup of sunflower seed, 3T. flax seed, 3T. sesame seed. Next morning drain sunflower seed and dump in blender. Add other seeds, cocoanut butter, 1-2 bananas, couple tablespoons of honey, and cocoa or carob, if desired. Then fill blender with water. This is yummy, taste like chocolate milk shake, even if you do not use the carob or cocoa. I also serve this in the middle of the day if everyone is hungry and dinner is a long way off. (Oh, also works without soaking all those seeds, just tends to bebetter for them.)

Sweeter crackers, those with apples and raisens or bananas and oranges. I don't tend to do the crackers or fruit with honey on top -- too dang messy. But will serve with additional fruit.

Hope this helps! :)

One quick breakfast is to take an apple, cut out the core, then stuff it with nut butter. Or you can slice the apple and use the nut butter to dip the slices in.

Okay, there's a much older thread where we all discovered the grain roller and there was lots of vey descriptive information on raw oatmeal preparation. This link isn't to that thread (I'm too busy to go through every single search result!), but this will definitely teach you how.

I was lucky enough to have Rawkie coach me in person one morning and it was truly divine, but, if you follow her directions in this thread, you'll have the same results.

chop up apples and grapes (or other fav fruit), add some chopped walnuts and raisens -- serve plain or with almond milk. Sprinkle with cinnamon for a different flavor.

granola w/almond milk and chunks of fruit.
I make granola with sunflower seeds/pumplin seeds/ almonds. (soak, chop). Chop apple, mix with seed mixture, add cinnamon and a bit of salt and dehydrate until dry and crispy.

My kids did not like smoothies also but I found by experimenting that it was the THICKNESS they did not like and that they were not keen on banana. SO I changed a few things and now they love them. One day was a smoothie tasting day. I made several ver different recipes and got feedback. It was fun and the kids thought it was a blast!

All the best! :o

Hi,

my tip for breakfast (I eat it about five times a week) is this one:

2 grated apples and cinnamon
I add either flax seed or sunflower seed (kernel) and sometimes honey or raisins.
