ok everyone -I have all the best of intentions but typically around lunch time my thoughts about staying raw go right out the window and I end up consuming cooked foods. What is the best way to maintain my raw stance without feeling so starved by 12 noon?

BTW I work out at 5 am and drink 16 to 24 oz of water. Then I consume about 16 oz of a raw fruit smoothie. I normally eat grapes around 9 am or so.

HELP!

I havent had any problems with starvation b/c I just constantly munch on nuts/raisins, seeds/ fruit everything. i've stopped for two seperate days when trying to fast. But just keep eating raw and you'll never get hungry b/c you'll be full from it. I seriously think I eat a serving or two servings of something Raw atleast every hour. At work Ill go for about fours hours with just water, but thats about every other day. did i mention I still lost two lbs. already doing this. And I've always been a calorie cutter. Not Anymore!

How many lbs did you lose the first week 100% raw? Funny thing is, I was sick a few weeks ago and going "raw" was very easy b/c I didn't want to eat then.

I started last saturday and weighed myself this past sunday and was down 2lbs. I haven't weighed myself yet, but think I've lost some more since then. It may seem small, but considering how much I eat to the minimum I used to try and eat its amazing!

green tea is used by alot of people to quell appetite . so maybe if you have a thermos of green tea with you at work or where ever you could drink that during morning so not so hungry in afternoon , it works for me . good luck

What is the best way to maintain my raw stance without feeling so starved by 12 noon?Eat more food. Just that simple - eat more food.

If you're not sure what to plan or eat, use Alissa's book as your guide. That's why she wrote it; all the answers are in there.

In the meantime, eat, eat, eat. When you're just beginning, you can eat as much as you need whenever you're hungry. Hey, don't scrunch up your face like that -- it's absolutely true!!

Yeap yeap yeap! Rawtruth has it in hand. Let me give you an idea of what has kept me on track since I started three weeks ago.

Breakfast: Smoothie, sometimes green sometimes just fruity

Snack: celery, red peppers, carrots, or strawberries

Lunch: Avacado w/ flax crackers, small to large salad w/dressing. Somtimes a raw cookie or half a piece of raw bread or a date if I'm feeling a sweet desire

Snack: banana or if I have left overers from my morning snack

Dinner: That varries alot, sometimes I'm hungry, sometimes I'm not, sometimes I'm on the run and just have a Lara bar. Generally a simple entree like collard greens wrapped around a pate and sprouts, sometimes another smoothie, sometimes just a piece or three of fruit and a handful of soaked nuts. Whatever floats my boat for the day. I do more complicated stuff on the weekend like rawviolies and such.

For the first two weeks all I did was eat. I was hungry I ate.. and let me tell you I did alot of eating! Now some days I'm hungrier than others. It does level out though. And I've lost 10lbs, so it is working!

There's a reason why Alissa says to eat and eat when you're beginning raw. Her 4-week plan from her book is way more food than anyone expects to eat. For most people who follow this plan, the weight drops off (if they have weight to lose).

It may fly in the face of "logic" that we've been taught. In fact, much about raw & living foods goes against conventional nutritional "knowledge" -- but this way of living and eating is what's real and true.

Eat when you're hungry. If one banana doesn't do it for you, eat two. If two still leaves a hole in your tummy, eat three.

Raw & living foods may not give you that FULL feeling that you're used to. That's actually a false feeling, but no need to go into that here. Just eat -- if you're hungry an hour or two later, eat again -- but eat RAW and LIVING food. That feeling doesn't mean you should eat cooked food. Oh no!! Just the contrary! Your body is crying out for MORE real food.

Eat, eat, eat. This glorious bounty was put on earth to nourish us. Enjoy.

Sure would like to hear back from Curleedst to see how it's going now.

Thank you all for your feedback and encouraging words. I will take a few suggestions about purchasing Alissa's book and stocking up on fresh, ripe, live veggies and fruit and just eat til my "hungry" feeling is satiated.

I will continue to update you all about my progress. The problem with me and my M-F schedule is, during the day I am running from meeting to meeting and it is so hard to take a few minutes to remember to eat. I know that is bad but I am just being honest.

Until you get Alissa's book, stick some bananas and maybe a few LaraBars in your briefcase, bag, or pockets -- eat them while you're walking down the hall if you must, or while others are slurping their coffee. Worst case, excuse yourself to use the bathroom and eat there.

There are bunches of creative ways to keep your tummy full and not get to the point where you'll put anything in your body just to quiet the screaming tummy. You've come to the right place for support.

what has personally helped me end the cooked-food cravings (and allowed me to pretty easily complete 2 weeks of 100% raw..which i'm still doing and have no plans of going back to cooked ever :D) is dates.

dates are so sweet, sugary, yummy..and they taste like candy. i eat as many dates as i need to until those cravings are gone. it's my personal way of managing myself and my personal alternative to cooked food. perhaps i'm a dateaholic..but it's better than cooked food IMO :)

my cravings died off after about day 5. it's been pretty smooth sailing since! ::crosses fingers::

maybe find your own little snack you intensely enjoy and turn to that everytime your cravings come around?

this took me a year and a half to "perfect"...though i'm still far from perfect.

it might be a long ride of ups and downs, but stick with it! it's worth it, i promise!

good luck

Thanks. This morning I ate my fruit around 7:30 am BUT I had to go offsite for a meeting at 10 am and all they had was water so by 12 noon my stomach was screaming so I gave in. I am eyeing fruit this evening and planning to have a salad. I see Domino's now have salads you can order. I'll keep you all posted of my progress.

Take food with you!! Off site or on site, you need to be prepared to feed yourself at all times.

This is really simple. It's the key to staying raw. Just have food with you. It can be Larabars or bananas or other fruit (as I've already said). If you don't have a briefcase, do you have a purse? Dates! Anything raw! Just have food with you. (Did I mention to have food with you?)

Ok my update today is - I did better. I had a greek salad for lunch BUT it did have some light feta on it with 4 grilled shrimp. The greens outweighed the shrimp and cheese but it was on there nonetheless.

I did bring fruit with me to work for breakfast and ate a banana in the rush hour traffic. I also had organic bite-size carrots with me and ate that as a snack around 8:30 am or so.

I will admit - I did drink some hot cocoa b/c it gives me that full feeling but I plan to take that out soon enough.

I plan on making me a greek salad for dinner (sans shrimp) so that is that.

Thanks guys!

Curleedst,

How 'bout if you start a journal here on this forum since tracking what you eat at first is an important way to go raw. Have you considered using Alissa's book and her 4 week recipe plan -- or taking the 30 Day Challenge?

By the way, why didn't you just order the salad without the cheese and shrimp? Not trying to be combative, but you did start this thread asking how you can deal with your hunger and stay raw.

I still don't know what you eat in a typical day, but from what you've written so far, you're just simply not eating enough. One banana and a few carrots all morning? Yikes!

I -- and others -- have posted here giving you support and concrete ideas on what to do. I'm a bit puzzled as to why you're still eating cooked food, meat and dairy. You're the only one who knows what's going on with that. The ball's in your court (where it's always been, of course).

Best of luck on the path toward optimum health and radiant beauty!
