Hello.
I just wrote a reply to someone's post and I have no idea where it went!

So, I just finished 25 days 100% raw after being very inspired by Alissa's book. However, i was getting very depresssed, so I had to stop. I think it was because I wasn't getting enough living foods. The organic veggies here don't feel like they've got much life in them. I just ordered a sprouter and some sprouts, and I'm going to try again.

Also my friends think that it is too extrmeme to be 100% raw, and I wonder if my desire to do this is some form of perfectionsm... I do like how soft my skin was getting and that wonderful clean empty feeling in the abdoman...

Does anyone out there drink Mate? Is this as hard on the body as regular caffenated tea?

Good for you! 25 days raw is wonderful! You mentioned two of my favorite outcomes of raw, better skin and that wonderful clean abdomen feeling. I also know what you mean about loosing enthusiasm. Friends will say all kinds of things. Its what we focus on that is really what we feel or fear inside. I know if I eat raw, I feel my absolute best. I know if I start to eat cooked foods I start to get back all my aches and pains. So, for me its a choice. Sometimes its easy, like my first 3 months. Sometimes its harder, like it was this past Christmas. But, everyday is a new day, and every raw meal is a gift to ones self.
Congrats again on your 25 days!

Hi there and welcome!

Well, this is where I'm not 100% raw. I drink Mate occasionally. Some mornings I have a short cup of organic coffee, some mornings it's green tea, some mornings its mate. But I enjoy something warm to get me going. To me, mate is probably best because you don't have to boil the water.

The past two days, I've started having the following cocktail in place of those:

1 tsp honey
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
a shake or 2 of cayenne pepper

I mix this up in hot water. It's pretty good and gets my bowels moving, and warms me up. The only drawback is that you have to be careful not to inhale the steam because the cayenne will choke the heck out of you! ::chuckle::

Welcome! and best wishes to you. :)

ps: depression can also be a sign of detox.
