I cannot say that I'm 100%, because I have not given up regular salad dressing or cheese just yet :o

However, I was able to combat my typical sugar/carb cravings by eating huge salads made with: broccoli, cauliflower, spring mix, roma tomatoes and green onions.

I also made a fresh fruit salad: Pinapple, oranges, bananas with a sprinkle of cashews.

Not only was yesterday a break through day for me, but my son actually enjoyed the raw broccoli! Oh holy day!!!

My problem, however, is that I feel like I'm eating way too much. I just feel like I could eat all day :(

I can tell a difference already, in just 24 hours. I have severe skin allergies, since becoming pregnant. I had to have my doc call in a prescript yesterday, because the allergy shot didn't work. By the time I got to the pharmacy today, my itching and irritable skin looked almost normal.

I'm going to wait before using the meds, as I have a feeling that once my body is cleaner, the eczema like allergy will be gone.

Thank you all for indulging me. I'm so very excited :D

Webby,

Hi! I am two months 98% raw. I feel great. Don't forget that you will probably be going through detox in the next few days nut maybe not if you are still eating cheese.

I wish you luck!

Take care,

You will want to eat, eat, and eat. It's Ok. I'm starting week three and the hungries have slown down somewhat. I ate when I was hungry and I still lost 7lbs. If you think about the calorie content of veggies versus the calorie content of most cooked foods then you need to eat more to maintain the same caloric intake. So it makes sence even if it is different from what we've been told all of our life. So enjoy the first 'diet' where you can eat when you hungry, it is so freeing!

I think that I already started the detox process. I'm only eating a wee bit of cheese, sprinkled on my salad. I can't wait until I get that craving out of my system.

Jinxie, that's a good point. I do indeed, feel famished, but I am certain that I'm not consuming anywhere near the amount of calories that I normally would have.

Webby,

Oh I forgot to tell you, The first week or two I went raw I ate sooooo much and then after that my appetite has slowed down. Also VERY important. If you start to get headaches, it may be a magnesium deficiency. That is what happened to me. I stopped eating cashews and sunflower nuts which have magnesium and I started to get headaches. I am now taking a magnesium supplement and eating nuts and the headaches have gone away.

Well, I too started yesterday and feels hungry on and of constantly, one moment I think myself satisfied, the nex my stomach rumbles. My only problem is that I do not have all that much veggies anf fruits home and I have a very hungry BF in the house as well.. I am going "hunting" for cheap organic food until next week where we ought to have more..

webby,

congrats! at most gourmet grocery stores, raw cheese is available. you might switch to that if you're feeling you can't give it up yet.

i totally agree with what everyone said about eating a ton when they first went raw, but wanted to point out that if the salad dressings you are still using have msg in them (most pre-packaged dressings do and they hide it under very benign sounding names liek "natural flavors"), your appetite will continue to be over-stimulated. if you really just aren't into making your own dressings yet (though i promise it is REALLY easy), look for organic brand dressings that specifically say "no msg" or have all of the ingredients clearly listed instead of vague descriptions. i believe that annie's organics do not contain msg.

Thank you all for the support and information.

@ karenisraw - I read about the magnesium deficiancy, which is why I bought nuts an d bananas. I am typically prone to sinus headaches, and migraines, but I KNOW that once I'm 100% I'll be headache free.

@ pdx kris - thank you for the gourmet store suggestion. I'll be looking into that asap; cheese seems to be one of the most difficult things for me to relinquish. I did buy a new jar of tahini, to make my own dressing.

@ Nenyath - Great, we started on the same day! If you need some additional "newbie" support, don't hesitate to PM me. Maybe we can buddy up, give each other additional motivation :D

Hey Webby. Welcome!

Don't worry about how much you eat right now. Just eat as much as you need to be satisfied. I eat about every 2 hours and I'm losing weight.

Also, once you try some of Alissa's salad dressings, you'll never go back to bottled. What's your favorite salad dressing? Maybe we can give you some alternatives?

Do you have alissa's book? Do yourself a favor. Don't bother buying other raw cookbooks...save and buy THE cookbook. I have tried others and end up selling them. The one I use every day is Alissa's. Her recipes are AWESOME and EASY and I love 9 out of 10. Plus the inspiring stories are a bonus!

anyway... you're in the right place.
Congratulations! and Welcome!
