View Full Version : Adult Content? Weird Detox Symptom a Bit Gross

Yesterday and today I have something going on that I can only think is some sort of weird detox issue. If you gross out easy, do not continue.

I have heard from many that when you begin to detox it is like unwinding a time machine... you detox the most recent toxins first, then go back in time.

The past couple of days I've awakened with violent sneezing fits. My nose just fills up with mucos and when I blow it, "chunks" of bloody something comes out.

Then I'll be fine the rest of the day. I undertsand that our bodies heal during sleep, which I why I feel this must be detox. Also, I have no other symptoms of a cold or flu.

The other thing is that inside my nostrils, on that cartilage that divides your two nostrils, it's sort as heck and feels like there are scabs or something there.

This would make a lot of sense, in the light of my drug use during the early 80's when I made constant use of my nose. Maybe the toxins are breaking free.

Anyway, I apologize if I grossed anyone out, but to me, this is fascinating!

Also.. I broke the 144.5 barrier today. This morning I FINALLY weighed 143!!!
HOORAY! :D :D :D

Congrats on breaking that barrier. :) I feel like I have that too.

I think the "time machine" may be true. Also, I know that I have to deal with emotional issues and get through them, before I can loose more weight. So that's part of the work for me.

It makes total sense to me, that while your nose is healing, old skin would break off, together with mucus, and you would feel the dead stuff in your nose, like it was "scabs". I agree that it is fascinating how the body heals.

These last few days, I have noticed an improvement in my face. For a while now, especially after a period of 100% raw, I felt my cheeks getting sort of bouncier and more "alive". But I still had a "dead" triangle following the line from the eye/nose corner to the ear/jawbone and up. This "dead" triangle under my eyes and on my cheekbone, has now become more "beefed up", healthy looking, and the lines in my face are softening. I may end up with soft, round cheeks one day. Plus I feel the end of my nose now, like it was all soft and "alive". The wrinkles I was starting to get under my chin, at the neck/chin area, are now gone. And my hands look younger. I'm 38. Very strange, but I hope it keeps going. lol.

Oh my gosh, Yum Yum, it's weird you'd say that about the wrinkles. I was looking in the mirror this morning and thought, "You know, I think my neck and chest wrinkles are fading..." I'm 54 (am I 54?)....no, I'm 53, I'll be 54 in August. But I do think myfeatures are softening... nice, huh?

Just wanted to say congratulations on breaking the barrier; I can't wait until I get to 200 pounds. I say keep on keepin' on; your body is is doing a major reconstruction.

hey!!!
this past week i've been experiencing the sore nostrils and what seems like scabs on the cartilage. it's very frustrating and annoying b/c i'm always touching it, looks like i'm picking my nose 24/7. :)

i dunno what it is or why it's happening though...sorry, no advice, just a "a know what youre going thru"....

I have had the same exact thing going on with my nose for over 6 weeks now. Along the inside of my nose I build up a scab, then it comes off and then it comes back over and over and over again. I don't know what it is from. I didn't have a history of drug use (except for pain relievers from many surgeries I had).

I am interested in seeing what everyone has to say.

RowanC... I'm kinda having a similar experience here. Not to be gross either, but at the end of last year I was dealing with a sinus infection that would just NOT go away... I had symptoms for a month and a half  The longest I've ever been sick. And now that I'm eating way better I am starting to lose some of the infection... and I'm not one bit sick. It's getting blown out bit by bit... but I'm glad to see it's leaving me. (I know it's infection b/c it's bright green).

I have been noticing that my nose "abilities" (i.e. smell) have been dwindling down severely over the past year. Ppl will say "can you smell that" and I'll be totally oblivious... so I'm hoping to have a better sniffer soon!!!

Congrats on breaking the bearier!!!
Sandra

That's so cool, RowanC! I love when weird stuff comes out-way better out than in!!!

I have had a very weird sore in the R corner of my mouth for like 10 days, and a sore on my L nostril. It's not herpes-I can tell what that's like. I don't know what it is other than detox. I've learned to love detox. Bring it on!!

Vitamine c defiency can make your nose bleed. Maybe try upping vitamine c in your diet?

Rowan, it is detox and very likely for the reasons you stated (the 80's). I live in an area where there is tremendous air pollution (sulfuric acid being the greatest). The Dr's here estimate that 85% of their business comes from upper respiratory problems due to this pollution. Can you imagine what detox would be like after inhaling acid every day of a person's life?

Actually every living being detoxes on a regular basis and we have quite a bit of it here as I already said. It is common to cough ourselves to sleep and wake up sneezing. Of course that is only the people who are not on an array of drugs to force the body to stop these symptoms. Alas, the ones who will not allow the detox die of cancer, asthma, or bronchitis (years of built up toxins).

Be happy about your detox, allow it, and soon it will have passed. You will be cleaner, healthier, and happier.

You are doing so good,
Teri S

Me too! Me too! The nose thing that is!

It has been a while back now. But, My right nostril was always sore and scabby. It must have been detox. Oh, and my upper right nostril always hurt, like a forever sore. But I feel nothing now! Yea!

Strange how you deal with something for so long, then it finally goes away and you don't even realize it until someone mentions it. Thanks for reminding me of one more healing from RAW.

One more thought, when I succome and eat chocolate (sad), my nose tends to remind me that it is not happy. . . strange how our bodies talk to us!

Happy healing!

Thanks Doe, for the encouragement.

Cecelia, I don't think it's Vit C deficiency. I get a LOT of C in my diet.
Anyway, it doesn't really bother me and I feel fine.
Just thought it was strange and exciting in a weird way to think that I'm getting that old "stuff" out of my system. :D

Hey Rowan. Congrats to you on coming so far!

Those mucous membranes!! They get so damaged by us over time, from air pollution, to synthetic scents which are everywhere, to smoke, dairy, medications. You are doing some deep level cleansing and that is fantastic! (though it may not feel like it now) Imagine that when you are through the other side, not only will you reach a whole new level of breathing - but you will have fresh, clean mucous membranes to boot!

Awhile after I was raw I detoxed mold and it was gross. Everything smelt like mold, everything tasted like mold...it drove me insane for awhile!!! SO I know retracing to be true fro my own experiences.

You are really getting into it, yeah you!! :)
Warmly~

Thta's happened to me. It started last may, but I thought it was a reaction to the NG tube I had the previous October. It's still continuing. My right nostril keeps scabbing over and over on the cartilage and sometimes I touch my nose (on the outside!) and it feels like I ran into a wall lol.

When I tried going raw a few years ago I keep smelling a certain drug. It was funny cause I thought my son was doing it when it was coming from my body LOL!!!
Certian drugs such as those popular in the (80's) gets stored in your fat cells. This is why althlets often die from just 1 use of this drug they have such low body fat that the only fat the drug can go to is the heart which results in a heart attack. When you start getting rid of fat it is not unheard of for people to taste and smell that drug and even some people have felt a high.

I favorite detox smell was when your poo smells like finger nail polish remover LOL!!! That was too funny. My son was like you doing your nail AGAIN !!!! :D :D :D

My nose is going though something too. Big huge things coming out. My eyes have even been detoxing puss was running out like I was crying for 2 days and I am not even 100% raw this time.

Wow- I don't have any strange symptoms at all since starting raw 7 weeks ago. In 7 weeks of being raw I only had a few hours of largely-unexplained queasiness, which might have been due to something I ate that day- I haven't eaten them since and haven't felt queasy since. The only continual problems I have is 1) diarrhea, which may or may not be related to certain high fiber foods I've been eating (hummus and medjool dates seem to be the culprits) and 2) sinus problems, which I had before going raw. I wonder why I haven't had any of the symptoms people talk about when they go raw.

Hi
I have been going through rewind too!
the symptoms are not as intense as the ilness, but all the same a little uncomfortable!
I was struggling with the idea that the candida had returned, but also realising that it was mild and didnt develop, so put it down to detox!

Oh no Ive got so many nasties in store....
Glandular fever, mumps, chicken pox to name but a few!
oh well, least it will be milder this time around and a while off yet!

I have heard other raw foodists talk about the nasal experience.
They thought it was strange too!
Happy healing :)
