anyone buying H2O-melons this time of year?

I'm really craving one today! Are they any good at this time of year?

i was craving watermelon a few times this winter... i bought one a few weeks back and it wasn't all i dreamed of of course... so yesterday i got one again in *hopes* that it would be good... (eternal optimistic!!) It wasn't gross... but it wasn't amazing or anything. Part of it didn't taste much.

I can't wait for summer for watermelon...

I can't imagine where they're shipping them in from this time of year. Watermelons are traditionally ripe in the San Joaquin Valley of California around the first part of July. They need a lot of HEAT from the SUN and a lot of WATER to develop their sugars.

I try to buy fruits/veggies in season. Otherwise, I am suspicious. :cool:
