I bought some Go Raw "Simple" Flax Snacks at my health food store. They had another flavor but those contained soy and garlic. I don't really like garlic and my daughter can't have soy. So I bought these. Had her try a piece first. She had a funny look on her face as she told me, "These don't taste like anything!"

I wasn't sure what she meant, so I tried a piece. And indeed there was no flavor whatever! I could feel it on my tongue and it was lightly crunchy but there really was no flavor at all. I thought this was odd because in cooked foods, I've used flax and it has a very nutty flavor.

Is it common for flax crackers to be so flavorless? These were very expensive, so I'm rather disappointed. I don't really dislike them, but I find them to be very boring.

Well, I have to admit, that I have never once bought any raw food prepared.

I make my own flax crackers, and they have tons of flavor, but this would be my guess.

You might be used to salt or spices, and these don't have any, or very little,

When flax seeds taste nutty, it's because they are roasted, much like other nuts, which taste alot different raw than roasted, much like cashews, which aren't even close to the roasted flavor.

OR, the crackers are specifically made so you can add your own nut cheeses or toppings, and the flavor is supposed to be in the spread, this would be my guess, but you might just like to make your own if you have a dehydrator, as it is way less expensive to make your own.

OR, maybe they were just terrible crackers.

Thanks! No dehydrator yet. I've ordered sprouting stuff. The dehydrator will have to wait a little while. I might try the other flavor next time. They also had some other flax crackers but I didn't have time to look at them very well.

Hi
I also make my own flax crackers using the oven on its very lowest setting and leaving the door open. It works really well. You could try this and add lots of herbs and spices which is great. I make some with soaked sundried tomato and fresh basil blended in and they are full of flavour.

Good luck
