Hi all,

I haven't posted here for quite awhile, but I do learn alot from you all.

I'm getting ready to make the chick-un patties from Alissa's book and I only have kelp on hand. I have kelp flakes and a kelp shaker. Would it work to substitute the kelp for the 2 t of dulse? If so, is it pretty much a 1-1 substitution?

My children are very interested in eating raw foods, but we are having a difficult time finding foods they like. They are picky but interested. My 9yo loves the veggie chick nuggets from the market and I'm hoping this recipe will appeal to her. The lentils are sprouted and ready to go. I live in a small town and don't have a store I can run to for dulse. I'll have to wait for the next co-op order, but my lentils can't wait till then :) I've rambled. Thanks for your help.

Yes you can, I use both, they both have that salty seaweed taste, similar but different so the flavor maybe slightly different.

Rawfigure,

Thank you for answering my question. I substituted the kelp for the dulse and it seems to taste just fine. They're in the dehydrator now. I really appreciate you taking the time to answer my question.

I'm glad this worked for you, but I need to make a plug for dulse--if you can get it "whole", it makes a great snack--it's super tasty and soft and amazingly good for you. I keep some at work as a snack. You can eat it as-is, unlike kelp, which requires soaking, and I wouldn't enjoy eating kelp on its own.
