Hi, there :)
I am still in the detox/rebuilding phase that happens during the first few months of raw. I was wondering, does the body need more minerals when it is building new tissue than it does to maintain existing tissue? In other words, does my body need extra minerals (i.e. greens) when it is rebuilding? Aren't vitamins used more for maintenance-related functions? What the heck are new cells made out of?

I do know that cells membranes are made up of fats, at least partially. So make sure you get the best plant fats you can while rebuilding.

I think, but I'm not sure, that vitamines usually go into hormone like substances, where as minerals rebuild the bodys infrastructure (bones etc), aminoacids build protein, cellmembranes are made up of lipids (fats). So I guess you need everything ;)
I would imagine that fats are good for detoxing, because toxins are stored in fat, but your body won't get rid of fat uness you're eating fat that can be used to replace the old fat.

Our whole foods contain alittle of everything.........vitamins and minerals.
Okay, last nite I reflected back to my biology days! :D
Our bodies are so intricate that the organs and their functions require a broad range of nutirents.
I'm thinking that..........
Cells which we are made up of (tissue is made up of cells, bones are made of cells etc etc)require oxygen to fucntion and carryout it's responsibilities. Greens tend to be a "favorite" for rebuilding b/c of it's chlorophyll content to oxygenate the blood. But at the same time, we need a vast range of nutrients to function, cleanse, detox, rejuvenate and rebuild. The body is intelligent in knowing what nutrients to "store" for repair. Even resting is involved in rebuilding. Grant it, if we go against what our bodies need, that is when we become underworkd/damaged, that is why raw foods work.
Great question I need to keep thinking about this.

I don't use this all the time but about 2 to 3 times a week. I use a product called miracle 2000:
It comes in a liquid form, you can check it out at:

I know that because I'm transitioning to raw lifestyle I may not be getting all that I need yet. :)
