I have purchased Alissa's cookbook and dvd's and love it! I am not raw yet but am getting started in Jan. Several of us in our town will begin a 90 day raw challange. I am a little leary of starting in the winter when I like warm foods, but I have fibromyalgia and have had it for years and years and I want to feel better, improve my health and lose weight. I have a ton of recipes to draw from and the forums to gain stregnth. I will let you know when I begin. Thank you for being here and encouraging us all

Hi Harmony,

Welcome to the boards. I use to have Fibromyalgia too. I hope it's not too long before you start to feel relief. There are many of us on this board that either have Fibro right now or have had it in the pass. Just check out the different threads that mention Fibro.

Harmony, how nice that you have a support group going before you are even raw! I think a lot of us wish we had that!

Welcome to the group, I will be looking forward to hearing more about the health benefits you feel and how it's helping your fybromyalgia.

AJ

Thanks for welcoming me. I will be looking for the fibro threads. How long did it take for you with fibro to start feeling better on raw?

Hi Harmony,

I'm going to post a link to my story, which will be in more detail. But basically I have a thyroid disease, and even though I was on thyroid meds, I was very sick with Fibro, chronic fatigue, headaches, etc. Once I got on the "right" meds, all these symptoms were gone in 10 days. When I was feeling so well, I wondered why my thyroid got into the shape it did and this is where I discovered eating raw. Once I worked up to 75% raw, my thyroid meds were cut back (4 times). So I know the raw food was allowing my body to repair itself. I'm hoping to be off the meds totally and still be pain free. Right now, if my percentage of cook food goes up too much, the fibro starts to come back. Others, that I have read about with thyroid disease, found it took about 1 year of eating 100% before they were totally off their meds. These are people that were on high doses of thyroid meds for a long time and probably had an autoimmune disease (I do). Yet I just read where one lady who was on a small dose of thyroid meds was off within a month of eating all raw.

It may take time for your fibro to go away, eating raw, but it will. Just hang in there. I'm ready to take the big step to all raw. I'm starting Jan. 1, although I have been raw all day today. I'll be posting over in the 30-day challenge area tomorrow (my picture is there already from when I tried to do all raw, but slipped up).

Here is my whole store with before and after pictures:

In my before pictures I was 180 pounds. In my after I was 146. I'm now 164  It's not just the weight, but when I weigh more, I have more health issues. When I eat right, then the weight comes off, very s-l-o-w-l-y (dang burn thyroid!!!!! - Extremely slow metabolism!!!). But I'll be patient, like before and continue to reap the bennefits of the raw food as it allows my body to repair itself.
