Chick pea questions

Hi all,

where do you find sproutable chick peas ? I want to make Alissa's hummus recipe but don't know where to find chick peas? Am I looking the bulk bin section for raw dry peas or in the produce section ?

Look in the bulk bin section, they are also called garbanzo beans, so keep an eye out for that name too.

Thank you, will they say raw ? I know when I first started looking for buckwheat I accidentally bought toasted !

They probably won't say raw, but they should just be with all of the other dried beans.

Just watch the ones you get in the bulk section instead of buying the ones made specificaly to sprout. Depending on the store and how old the beans are you may get a very low sprouting ratio. I got mine from whole foods, I did buy them about 6 months ago when I was eating cooked, and while some did spout, a good amount did not. I just bout some from the sprout people online as they have the best prices and several folks mentioned them on here. Rita seems to be super nice and is another early riser like me *lol* I'll try to remember to come back to this post and tell you how they do once I get them.
