Almond question: I don't like the brown skin of almonds. What do you do? In the "old days" I used to blanche the almonds to get the skins off. Now I soak them and peel the skin off. I think the skin gives a slightly bitter taste to the almonds. The skin doesn't bother me in dry almonds, but I don't use them much.
Thanks,

Maria

I was reading in this book, not raw, but they recommend some raw stuff in it. They recommend to soak the almonds in pure water overnight. Strain them, pour warm water over them and peel them.

It's the same thing that you do, but maybe it is what works. Sorry I couldn't help you with another idea!

I think the almonds are a little sweeter without the skins, but I don't mind them at all, in nutmilk shakes, raw soups etc, so i just leave them on.

but this is the easiest way to peel them that I know of, soak for 12 hours, rinse, rinse, rinse, soak for 12 hours, rinse rinse rinse, soak for 12 hours, rinse rinse rinse, peel with finger nail

there you go.

I use luke warm water, and I let sit on the counter.
